How these notes are written

Structure

Most notes follow the same shape: what the thing is, why it is harder than it looks, what to check or test, where the answer misleads, and how to tell whether it worked.

The sections on what does not work are not optional. A description of geofencing that omits position error describes a system more precise than it is.

Aggregate rather than individual

A principle running through the collection: this data supports statements about routes, sites and rounds, not comparisons between people.

Rounds differ, allocation differs, and position error does not average out because the biases are systematic. Where an individual matter genuinely arises, it is a conversation or an authorised investigation, not a league table.

The uncomfortable material

Dwell time contains waiting, travel within the site, customer conversation and breaks, and separates none of them.

A driver score can reward not braking when you should.

A gap in the record has seven causes.

Cooperation is what keeps the data usable, and every enforcement measure spends some of it.
